Los Angeles Lakers forward Christian Wood has decided to hold hands with LeBron James and Co. in times of crisis. After the playoff eliminations and firing of coach Darvin Ham, the Lakers were expected to get a core dismantling. However, Wood chose the other way. Per the league sources, NBA insider Michael Scotto confirmed that Wood has exercised his $3 million player option for the 2024-25 season. The former UNLV star recently got the attention of the NBA community with a post after the Lakers’ got derailed from their playoff journey.
In his gratitude post on X, Wood hinted about his stay with the purple and gold jerseys. “I will be better and 100% healthy next season, ” Lakers’ forward announced to his fans and Lakers community. In his debut season with his home team, Wood was caught up in injuries most of the season. Moreover, he did not even get to play in the playoffs. Overall, he averaged 6.9 points and 5.9 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game, considering the 50 matches he played with the Lakers.
However, it was not just the injuries that were holding Wood up from the court. The Lakers forward has the capability of a credible shooter covering most of the space on the court. However, despite his availability and s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s, he did not get any time on the court during Game 4 and Game 5 against the Nuggets. Was it Darvin Ham who restrained Wood from getting onto the court?
