In a psychiatric ward, therapist Dr. Rose Cotter meets graduate student Laura Weaver, who claims to be terrorized by an invisible entity. Strange events unfold, leading Rose to believe in a curse that passes through witnessing suicides. As she investigates, her own mental state deteriorates. Convinced she must break the curse, Rose confronts the entity, leading to a chilling and tragic outcome that leaves her fiancé, Joel, in a horrifying situation.

Smile is a 2022 American psychological supernatural horror film written and directed by Parker Finn in his feature directorial debut.
The adaptation of Finn’s short film was announced in June 2020, and the cast was assembled in October 2021. Principal photography took place in New Jersey, commencing in October and wrapping up in November. Originally intended for release on the Paramount+ streaming service, the film was ultimately given a theatrical release by Paramount Pictures due to positive test screenings.
Smile premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 22, 2022, and was released in the United States on September 30. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and grossed $217.4 million worldwide on a budget of $17 million. An untitled sequel is in production and scheduled to be released on October 18, 2024.
