Erik Ten Hag Outlines Two Changes That Marcus Rashford Needs To Return To Form For Manchester United

rik ten Hag has backed Marcus Rashford to return to his scoring ways after a difficult start to the new season for Manchester United.

The England international reached a world-class level with 30 goals in all competitions last season, but appears to have lost confidence and has managed just one goal in eight appearances so far this term.

Rashford’s only goal of the campaign came in an away defeat by Arsenal, and he was guilty of wasting a number of good opportunities in subsequent home losses to Brighton and Crystal Palace.

United will need a much better display from their talisman when they face Galatasaray in a crucial Champions League clash on Tuesday night, and Ten Hag believes it is only a matter of time before that happens.

Speaking ahead of the clash with the Turkish giants, the United manager urged Rashford to keep working hard and also noted the role his teammates could play in solving the situation.

“The facts are he’s not scoring at this moment, but he’s had opportunities, like against Brighton, where he had five or six occasions in a very good spot,” Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference.

“If he works hard and invests every day with the right focus, and if the team around him supplies, helps, and supports him with movement, then it will come, and Marcus Rashford is a player who’s capable of scoring a goal in every game. When he’s coming in the right spots, he will score.”
