Tom Dilworth’s life changed when he decided to adopt a dog from a local shelter and met Mel, a pitbull who stole his heart by laying his head on Dilworth’s lap. From that moment he decided that they would be together forever and he took her to her house. Everything was great for a few weeks but it didn’t take long for them to realize that Mel had a problem, he couldn’t keep his balance and it was getting worse and worse.

Mel was diagnosed as suffering from a neurological disorder which would make it impossible for her to walk. Despite all the adversity, Dilworth did not give up and contacted Eddie’s Wheels , a manufacturer of adaptable wheelchairs for pets and thanks to that he had a great outcome.

Love at first sight does exist, Tom and Mel discovered it the first time they met at the Yonkers Animal Shelter

Weeks after adopting Mel, they discovered that she could not keep her balance and would be unable to walk on her own.

But for Tom nothing is impossible so he got in touch with Eddie’s wheels and Mel was able to walk again

At first, Mel seemed afraid to use her new wheels.

But he soon got used to them and realized that he could cross any terrain with them even mud and dirt.

Mel has become the leader of the excursions he does with his family

Mel and her family have a great sense of humor!

 Thanks to Tom’s efforts, Mel’s life was able to change, so much so that now he is like a racing car!
