Shohei Ohtani Rumors: MLB Insider Says One AL East Squad ‘Serious’ About Pursuing Two-Way Superstar

The Los Angeles Dodgers are going big-name hunting this offseason, and it’s no secret they are in the running — heck — they are the favorites to sign the most coveted free agent this sport has and will ever see in two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani.

The writing appears to be on the wall for some, and it’s almost a foregone conclusion that Ohtani will end up in Dodger blue. However, other teams will pursue the two-time MVP, and MLB insider Jon Morosi believes the AL East Toronto Blue Jays are a dark horse to land Ohtani.

The Blue Jays are serious about pursuing Ohtani, and Toronto (MLB’s lone franchise outside the U.S.) presents a unique opportunity for the sport’s foremost international icon. It helps that Ohtani owns a career 1.139 OPS at Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays had a solid 2023 season, finishing with an 89-73 record that earned them a Wild Card spot.

Ohtani would immediately fill the DH spot, and they’d have a deadly four-person top of the lineup in George Springer, Bo Bichette, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and the two-way superstar, of course. This would definitely have opposing pitchers up at night; however, considering this is a Dodger site, we hope this doesn’t happen. It would take a lot for Ohtani not to sign with LA, and hopefully, nothing gets in the way of that.

Who knows how long it will take, but no matter how long it takes, we hope he lands in Los Angeles in Dodger blue.

But more suitors continue to emerge, and we can add the Blue Jays to the growing list of potential landing spots.
