Savannah James reveals she banned LeBron James from introducing her as his wife: I hate it

A term she has disliked before they got married

Savannah James has openly discussed her aversion to being called “wifey,” a term she has disliked even before she and NBA star LeBron James tied the knot on September 14, 2013.

Savannah revealed that early in their relationship, she asked LeBron not to introduce her as his wife until it was official, underscoring the importance of respect and the proper acknowledgment of their relationship.

“When I tell you I hate, loath, “wifey” with my whole entire soul,” she told Everybody’s Crazy podcast.

“Because n**** don’t call me your wifey and I’m not. I’m not. I had to politely tell my husband back in the day.

“He used to introduce me, ‘This my wife, this my wife.’ I had to put him to the side like, ‘Excuse me, sir, don’t introduce me as that, please. I’m not your wife and I deserve that title when the time is right. I don’t want you to start to think that it’s okay for you to say this.'”

An exemplary marriage

Despite their long-term commitment, which dates back to their high school years, Savannah made it clear that she wanted to be recognized as LeBron‘s wife only when the time was right.

Now, while she is comfortable being introduced as his wife, Savannah remains firm in her dislike of the term “wifey,” which she feels doesn’t do justice to her role. She also reflected on how, in the past, LeBron had a casual habit of introducing her, something she found didn’t fully honor their relationship.

The couple has now been married for over ten years, and their strong bond continues to inspire others, especially aspiring athletes who look up to them as a model of balancing career and family life.

Their marriage, marked by a deep mutual respect and commitment, has been a cornerstone of their public and private lives.
