Did the fans get duped by the TGL team again? Tiger Woods’s announcement to appear on Grant Horvat’s YouTube channel caught a lot of attention a few hours ago. Fans were excited to see the GOAT make his debut on the platform, even if it was just to promote TGL.
While he did show up, it was not exactly the way fans had expected. The 5x Masters Tournament winner joined the famed YouTube golfer for a couple of rounds of golf. All the way through, Woods was showing Horvat the way around the course and sharing his experience and knowledge with him.
The 17:12 minute video did include a few interesting conversations but lacked in terms of actual strokeplay, especially from the 82x PGAT champion. In fact, the only time it seemed like Tiger Woods was teeing off was when he was setting up the position of his tee. But then again, the video was described as “Tiger Woods gives Grant Horvat a lesson on how to hit his woods.”
Moreover, Mr. T has been struggling through injuries and recovering from a surgery he had towards the end of 2024. The only reason he played the 2024 PNC Championship was because of his son, Charlie Woods. So it’s understandable that he wouldn’t want to risk any further issues by playing the sport at the moment.
While still a great video to watch, fans felt cheated out of what could have been a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence. Let’s see what they had to say about the entire situation.
Fans “got baited” by Tiger Woods
The fans did not have many positive things to say about the whole experience. @sammcmeekin8897 initiated the conversation by stating “I was hoping it would be a 2 hour 18 hole match!!😭,” as they were hoping for Tiger Woods to play at least 18 holes. To that, @JoeyRoof replied, “We got baited rip,” suggesting that the GOAT scammed them by not mentioning the terms of his appearance on YouTube during his announcement. @jeandevilliers4400 said, “I’m genuinely upset,” probably an accurate reflection of the entire comments section.
@adski1348 had a unique opinion on the situation as they suggested, “Tigers ego is too big. He don’t wanna get beat by a youtuber,” indicating that if there was an actual match between Tiger Woods & Grant Horvat, then the GOAT would succumb to a disappointing loss. However, @arthurmesa3320 came to Woods’s defense as they said, “He was still recovering from back surgery,” suggesting that the legend wouldn’t have been able to compete for the 18 holes as it is due to physical limitations. However, fans will surely get to see him play again really soon. Tiger Woods is set to appear in the TGL to lead the Jupiter Links Golf Club against Collin Morikawa‘s Los Angeles Golf Club on January 14, 2025.
