An owner was worried when her dog sniffed and nibbled the remains

A dog walker was baffled after her dog “nibbled” on what looked like “alien remains” on a Wirral beach.

The unfamiliar object was discovered by Amy Ayobowen yesterday afternoon (Sunday, January 2) on Egremont Beach in Wallasey.

Amy, 42, who lives in Wallasey, was walking her dog when she spotted him sniffing around the remains of a ‘scary’ sea creature.

Unaware of what the presumed sea creature was, Amy took to a community Facebook page to showcase her find to others in the local area.

The Wirral woman wrote: “Can someone reassure me that my dog didn’t try to eat alien remains this afternoon on the beach???”

People flocked to the comment section with their guesses on what the mystery creature was, with many suggesting it was likely the “remains of a ray”, and more specifically, a “thornback ray”.

One woman said: “Looks scary, could it be some sort of fish skeleton?”

Sharing an image of a skeletal structure, one man said: “t’s a thornback ray, here’s the skeleton.”
