Los Angeles Lakers Are Interested In Timberwolves Big Man Naz Reid Ahead Of 2023 Free Agency

In the aftermath of a brutal sweep against the Denver Nuggets, the Los Angeles Lakers find themselves rethinking everything. As LeBron James contemplates retirement, GM Rob Pelinka must continue to find ways to make his team better, despite the uncertainty.

We don’t yet know the full extent of L.A.’s offseason plans, but we do know of at least one name that has surfaced as a potential candidate to join the Purple and Gold: Minnesota big man Naz Reid.

“Minnesota Timberwolves big man Naz Reid could be an option for the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason in free agency,” reported Lakers Daily. “Sources tell Lakers Daily that the Lakers are interested in acquiring Reid, who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.”

Study Suggests Exercise May Provide Relief From ChronicPain

Reid is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and the belief is that he’ll be looking for a contract somewhere near $10 million per season. Reird, 23, is no budding superstar, but he averaged 11.5 points per game as a two-way specialist for Minnesota. If he can bring that same production to Los Angeles and play well on both ends of the floor consistently, it will the Lakers another versatile option in the frontcourt to help protect the paint and back up Anthony Davis.

The Lakers Are Under A Lot Of Pressure This Summer

No matter what happens with LeBron James, the expectation for this Lakers team is that they are competitive every single season. This year, we saw the Lakers make a run after a miserable start, but it wasn’t enough to get the job done.

Now, the team will have to decide who to go after as LeBron James’ future hangs in the balance. He obviously wants to team up with Kyrie Irving again, but filling out the roster with role players like Naz Reid might be the safer option if the Lakers want to keep their depth and flexibility moving forward.

One way or another, we’ll find out what Rob has up his sleeve and which direction he decides to go after a bizarre season overall.
