Shohei Ohtani Rumors: Angels Still All In On Re-Signing All-Star

The Los Angeles Angels could look a lot different by the time the 2024 season rolls around. By all indications, they plan to keep their superstar Mike Trout, but they could be without their other superstar, ace and slugger Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani is a free agent this winter and could earn the most money any free agent has ever signed. The only question is, where will he sign? That’s the million-dollar question, and right now, it’s all just rumors about where he will sign.

A bunch of oddsmakers and experts believe he will head up the 5 North and call the Dodgers home; others think it could be Texas, San Francisco, or New York. However, the Halos will not let Ohtani go without a fight, at least according to one anonymous NL executive.

“I know the Angels are trying hard for him,” an NL executive said. “They want to show people that they’re trying.”

According to the New York Post, the Halos have the ninth-best odds of signing Ohtani at +1500. The Dodgers have the best with -110, followed by the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets to round out the top three.

Ohtani has spent his whole career with the Halos, so you would think they have some edge over the other MLB squads. It’s all rumors right now, and it could be a while until we find out when Ohtani chooses another team or stays with the Halos.

The Halos are not going out without a fight, and that is a good thing. Arte Moreno and company will shoot all their shots, and we’ll see if they can keep their big fish.
