An inquest into his death heard today how he was crushed by a garden roller.

A post mortem to establish a cause of death has not been completed but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The coroner adjourned the full inquest in Aberystwyth until October this year.

Police have not released any details over the youngster’s death but say they are not treating it as suspicious.

Maldwyn’s devastated family have now paid tribute to the boy, who was known to his family as “Gwern” – meaning muddy or swampy.

They said: “As a family, we are incredibly distraught by our tragic loss, and he will be greatly missed by us and the entire community.

“He was a loving son and a caring brother, who touched the hearts of so many.

“He lived his short life to the fullest and will be remembered for his captivating personality.

“He was an extremely keen little farmer who had knowledge and ability beyond his years.”

Joyce George, head of Maldwyn’s school Ysgol Pontrhydfendigaid, also paid tribute to the youngster.

She said: “We are extremely saddened to hear this tragic news.

“We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family at this very sad time.

“We will be providing help and support to both our pupils and staff during this difficult time.”

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed they were called to the home last week and said the coroner had been informed.
