Team USA star reveals why Steph Curry and Kevin Durant’s Olympic gold medal celebrations were cut short

After Team USA showed their global dominance in men’s basketball at the Paris Olympics earlier this month, superstars Kevin Durant and Steph Curry missed out on locker room celebrations.

A cast of NBA stars headed to the French capital and flawlessly found their way to the top of the podium after overcoming the host nation, 98-87, in the gold medal game.

However, rising star Anthony Edwards revealed that he, along with Durant and Curry, was brought in for an anti-doping test after stepping off the podium for the national anthem.

‘I’m not going to lie, me and him (Durant) had a doping test,’ Edwards told former player Jalen Rose on the Fanatic Fest podcast.

‘We couldn’t celebrate the win in the locker room for real because he, me, and Steph had to take a doping test or something.’

Over a week later, the three stars appeared to have passed the tests after having stellar performances at The Games.

Curry led Team USA in scoring, averaging 14.8 points per game and playing a lethal role in the semi-final game against Serbia and the final against France.

The Golden State poster boy shot nine threes in a 36-point performance to lead the Americans in a comeback in the semi-final. He then had 24 points and eight three-pointers against France in the gold medal game.

Durant averaged 13.8 points and was the team’s sixth-leading scorer until the final, where he started and scored 15.

Meanwhile, Edwards provided a spark off the bench and averaged 12.8 points per game.

‘Steph was No 4, I was No 5, Bron (LeBron James) was No 6 and he Durant was No 7,’ the Timberwolves franchise player recalled. ‘When they would introduce Steph, the crowd would go crazy. When they would name me, they go ‘ehhh.”

‘But then they’d introduce Bron and they’d go crazy, and then him (KD) and they’d go crazy again,’ he continued.

‘The fact that I was in the middle of them, I think that was the best moment of my life. My brother took a picture of that image and I thought it was the coolest picture I could have.’
