Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods forced to shell out mind-boggling figure for TGL SoFi Center repairs and reconstruction

RORY McIlroy and Tiger Woods have been forced to shell out $50m for renovations to their TGL facility, according to reports.

The state of the art interactive golf competition was initially set to launch last January but was postponed after the roof of their purpose-built arena caved in after a vicious storm.

The Sofi-Centre sustained severe damage as the inflatable white roof had fallen through.

Power failure was the apparent reason for the roof collapse on the arena as it deflated the dome.

But now the venue has a completely different look as it’s been totally restructured to deal with the elements.

A statement last January read: “Following discussions with key partners, including players, our six team ownership groups, PGA TOUR leadership and our commercial partners, SoFi, ESPN and Palm Beach State College, the decision has been made to postpone the start of the TGL season until early 2025.

“This decision came after reviewing short-term solutions, potential construction timelines, player schedules, and the primetime sports television calendar.

“Despite this new timeline for the venue, we remain excited about the future of TGL and will continue to build excitement between now and the start of the season with our players, fans and teams.”

Building repairs and construction started March 18 and now are working toward full “dry-in” when the building’s shell is complete and protected from wind and rain — in early September.

SoFi Centre is a 250,000-square-foot venue that was to accommodate approximately 1,600 people on match nights.

Tiger Woods fires back at Colin Montgomerie’s call for him to retire

Some of the best golfers on the planer are set to play in the innovative league alongside founders Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods.

The league was set to feature six teams of three PGA Tour players, competing head-to-head in 18-hole match play on a virtual course, that will feature a special short game area.

New players will be added to the teams after a number of players joined LIV Golf since the postponement of TGL.

The first match is now scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN on Jan. 7, 2025, during prime time.
