Cristiano Ronaldo, the world’s top football star, has just surpassed music superstar Taylor Swift in the number of subscribers on YouTube.
In less than a month since launching his “UR Cristiano” channel in August 2024, Ronaldo has reached over 60 million subscribers, surpassing Taylor Swift’s 59.9 million.
Ronaldo, captain of the Portuguese national team and Al Nassr, not only surpassed Swift but also set a number of new records on the platform. His YouTube channel quickly reached one million subscribers in just 90 minutes, becoming the fastest individual channel to do so. Ronaldo then broke the record again by reaching 10 million subscribers in just 24 hours.
Ronaldo’s channel “UR Cristiano” offers a closer look at his personal life, family and celebrity interviews. His first video was posted on August 21 and immediately attracted the attention of millions of fans.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift, who started her YouTube channel in 2006, took six years to reach 1 million subscribers. Ronaldo’s dominance on the platform is a testament to his immense influence not only in sports but also on social media.
Ronaldo is also currently the most followed person on Instagram with over 638 million followers, surpassing famous names such as Lionel Messi, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber. He recently became the first person to have one billion followers across all social media platforms.
In a post celebrating the milestone, Ronaldo shared: “We made history – 1 billion followers! This is not just a number, it is a testament to the passion and love we have for each other.” He also expressed his gratitude to his fans for supporting him throughout his journey.
