Billionaire Elon Musk just released “Tesla Cybertruck for off-road and on-road” let’s admire it

The steel truck can hold its own in the sand.

The Cybertruck, Tesla’s three-ton, stainless-steel plated electric truck, is built for some serious off-roading, and now we’ve gotten a first glimpse of what that may be like.

Earlier this week, Tesla shared a video showing a Cybertruck (the video itself appears to be shot from another Cybertruck) traversing some rough terrain in Baja California, Mexico.

The Baja 1000 rally is a famous off-road race in Baja California, known for its ultra-tough, 1000-mile track filled with booby traps (yes, those are a thing), and Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously hinted that the company plans to test the Cybertruck at this race.

The seven-minute video of Cybetruck’s off-road adventure doesn’t show anything particularly dangerous, but it does give us a decent idea of how Cybertruck handles tight turns and sandy traps. The next Baja 1000 race is scheduled for November 12, but it’s unclear whether Tesla plans to actually participate in the race.

The person filming the video says that the two Cybetrucks used are “two release candidates” that are “straight out of the factory, except for some special race seats.”

As for the video, Starlink was used for streaming, and Tesla’s platform of choice was (of course) Elon Musk’s X, so the video isn’t of the best quality, but it’s watchable most of the time.

After numerous delays, the Cybertruck itself was scheduled to start being delivered to customers in the third quarter of 2023, but that has come and gone, so it should (hopefully) happen before the end of the year.
