Kevin Kisner Uses Misery That Made Tiger Woods Laugh To Taunt Fellow Teammate’s Professional Misfortune

Max Homa’s last win came at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, where he finished with a total score of 275, 13 under par. Impressive, right? Now, he’s back on the same course looking to add another title to his resume. Things started decently for him, with a solid tee shot on the par-4 first on the South Course. But, of course, the golf gods had other plans. His approach shot found the left greenside bunker, and then—well, you know what happened next.

Homa’s troubles didn’t end there. His third shot sailed into the right greenside bunker, and from there, it was a series of mishaps. He left his fourth shot in the trap, and finally found the green, but then had to two-putt from inside 8 feet for a triple-bogey 7. Ouch. He steadied himself for a bit, making pars on the next couple of holes, but then the bunker trouble struck again on the fourth.

By the time he hit the fifth, he was making double after yet another fairway bunker mishap. He finished his front nine with a 5-over 41. The back nine wasn’t much better, but he managed to save face with nine pars, including a pretty sweet save on the par-5 18th after his second shot got stuck in the bank. He’s currently sitting at T146—pretty far from the top of the leaderboard, but hey, the tournament has just begun. Someone has got to be positive, especially with the jab coming Homa’s way.

Kevin Kisner, Homa’s TGL teammate couldn’t resist taking a playful shot at him. He joked that it seemed like Homa took some notes from their TGL debut, especially on hitting bunker shots, and decided to put them to use on the first hole at the Farmers Insurance Open. But cheeky Homa, always quick with the comeback, responded with a playful jab of his own, saying, “Teach me how to aim it better next time plz I missed the pin by a mile“

Now, if you have watched TGL, you know exactly why Kisner was so quick to dish it out. Remember that wild bunker shot of Kisner? It was so bad, that it ended up being one of the best (or worst, depending on how you see it) moments of the TGL yet. He bladed a shot out of a greenside bunker, and it ricocheted off the flagstick, sending people ducking for cover. Tiger Woods, Homa, Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, and Justin Rose were all rolling with laughter. And apparently, Woods was laughing so hard that he was literally in tears.

Looks like Kisner was just waiting for the right moment to throw the jab back at Homa. As for Homa, his time on the course hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing. His 2024 season was winless, and his 2025 PGA Tour debut at The Sentry ended with him finishing T26. Not bad, but certainly not up to the standards of a six-time PGA Tour winner.

Still, this is Max Homa we’re talking about—he’s not the kind to sit back and wallow in struggles. Instead, he tackles it all with his signature witty humor.

Homa himself trolled his TGL team

Now, speaking of humor, Homa didn’t let his TGL team off the hook either. Homa and his squad, Jupiter Links Golf Club, didn’t exactly start the TGL series on a high note. They got walloped 12-1 by Los Angeles Golf Club on January 14. The match started with a tie on the first hole, but Los Angeles quickly seized control, winning three in a row. Jupiter Links only managed to win one hole—the sixth—and just couldn’t keep up with the momentum Los Angeles had going.

But leave it to Homa to turn a tough loss into a joke. Instead of sulking, he posted some funny pics with his teammates, including Tiger Woods and Kevin Kisner, and one with his wife, Lacey. Along with the photos, he joked, “We got beat so bad they may kick us out the league but we definitely brought the most laughs.”

That’s classic Homa for you—always finding the humor in tough situations, showing he’s got not just a good game, but a great attitude too.
