The world-famous pair—best friends, past teammates, competitors, and longterm roommates—laugh as they recall their five-year odyssey creating Serena’s dream home.
After co-owning a Palm Beach Gardens property where the Grand Slam duo lived on and off since 1998, with Serena splitting her time between secondary homes from Bel-Air to Paris,
she bought a sprawling waterfront property with breathtaking views in a coveted enclave north of Miami, minutes from Venus and their parents. Venus’s top design firm, V Starr, helped her build the ultimate family home.
Serena wɑnted her first move without Venus to be memorable. “Know your lane,” they say. Tennis beats interiors. I studied Venus.”
Venus prioritized Serena’s changing vision during creation. After buying the 14,500-square-foot Spanish Mediterranean–style property, Serena’s traditional values collided.
Modern art and technology influenced her minimalist aesthetic. Tech tycoon Alexis Ohanian was a growing romance. Sonya Haffey, principal of V Starr, said Serena’s future family goals were always part of the design.
In July, Serena relocated her husband and toddler into the ultra-modern intracoastal villa after three years of rehabilitation. “Build it, they will come.” Serena’s imagination—with V Starr’s help—led the design.
Serena says Ohanian “just met.” “I wouldn’t say, ‘Hey, let’s do this together.’ She laughs. “That would’ve been cгееpy,” Venus says.
Ohanian praised Serena’s hands-on approach but managed their three-year-old daughter’s bedroom. Both parents say their home’s crowning achievement is Olympia’s pink castle bed with a slide and Josh Fradis’ unique chandelier. Princess deserving.
“She goes down the slide every night while we’re thinking, Man, we shouldn’t have done that, because now at bedtime, she just wants to slide,” Serena adds. I like her happiness.
Olympia’s room is the most luxurious, but Serena demanded moderation everywhere. Haffey calls Serena’s new design concept “livable luxury.”
The combination of sleek, clear lines and high-end features with warm woods and casual accents that match her laid-back feel creates a unified visual narrative. The client provided hotel recommendations from her travels.
