Supergirl from The Flash confirms meetings with DC Studios for potential future collaborations

Following her massive debut in The Flash movie, Supergirl actress Sasha Calle teases her potential future with DC Studios as the Girl of Steel.

With a new Supergirl movie in the works, Sasha Calle opens up about meeting with DC Studios to potentially reprise the role of Kara Zor-El after The Flash. While The Flash was Barry Allen’s major cinematic adventure, the DCEU installment also brought to life Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Supergirl, for the first time in theaters since the 1984 movie with Helen Slater. Loosely inspired by Flashpoint, Calle’s Supergirl filled a similar role as Superman in the iconic DC Comics arc, as Henry Cavill’s Kal-El never made it to Earth after Barry’s time-travel actions.

One of the big questions, however, about Calle’s Supergirl is whether or not she will be back for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which will be part of the DC Universe. It appears that Calle may, in fact, not be done portraying the Girl of Steel. In an interview with USA Today, Calle confirmed that she have had meetings with Peter Safran, who is one of the DC Studios co-CEOs, about potentially continuing portraying Supergirl after The Flash.

I hope to continue playing Supergirl. I love her so deeply and I feel so connected to her.

How Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Could Do Sasha Calle’s Character Different From The Flash Movie

To this point, very little is known about Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, other than that it will be based on Tom King’s comic series of the same name. While the DC Universe will mostly be a reboot, there are ways for the Supergirl movie to use Calle, but also use her completely differently from The Flash film. The DCEU version had Kara be the last House of El member, as opposed to co-existing alongside her cousin Kal-El.

With Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, however, the DC Universe version of Calle’s heroine could now have her backstory explored a lot further compared to The Flash. This would also be a version of Supergirl, who was never captured and kept a prisoner in Siberia. If DC Studios are going to the lengths they are of bringing back several DCEU cast members, including Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and John Cena as Peacemaker, there is no reason why Calle couldn’t take part of the DC Universe as a new take on Supergirl.

Time will tell if DC Studios intends to bring Calle back for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, as they are currently focusing on Superman: Legacy, which will be the first major DC Universe installment. Given that Calle’s Supergirl performance was one of the more received aspects of The Flash, it would be fun to see her getting to continue to play Kara, but this time in her own film where she gets the complete spotlight. Hopefully, now that The Flash has come out, DC Studios will make a proper announcement sooner rather than later about Calle’s Supergirl future.
