Having a self-contained and plug-and-play home delivered straight to your location is going to be the next phase of housing. When this type of housing is also efficient to build, deliver, and on top of it all, affordable, it’s a winner.

The Vika One by Vika Living is a flexible unit built of structurally insulated panels (SIPS) made of fiberglass and foam. Standard plumbing, electrical, and HVA materials are also used in each unit. The unit also folds out into place (vika means fold in Swedish).
Once delivered, the Vika One folds out into place.
The Vika One looks like a sleek and contemporary cottage, but contains everything needed for tiny living. Each unit is 144 square feet. The full kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, sink, a dining space, and plenty of storage. The bathroom has a full-size shower and toilet, and the living area has a queen sized bed with views out the floor-to-ceiling windows. There is also a decent-sized closet next to the bathroom.
The unit contains a full kitchen, bathroom, closet space, and a main room for sleeping and dining.
The homes use highly efficient mini-split heater/AC units and mechanical systems for water, power, and waste. The Vika One also has off-grid capabilities with up to 7.2KWh of energy storage.
Vika Living created the One for use as ADUs for rentals or glamping, full-time living, and as flexible housing solutions for humanitarian or emergency needs. The homes are delivered fully assembled and can be placed on many different sites. Installation takes about a day or less. The units can also be moved to another site just as easily.
The Vika One can be delivered to various locations and moved to another location when needed.
The cost for the Vika One is about 1/4 less than a standard ADU, but costs will vary according to configuration and options. Currently they hover around $40,000. For more information on what is included in the Vika One and their FAQs, visit the website at vikaliving.com.
