Sheikh Jassim Could Sack Three High-Profile Man Utd Figures If He Takes Over From Glazers

Sheikh Jassim’s prospective takeover of Manchester United could see three senior figures sacked from the club, it has been claimed.

The Qatari businessman, who recently submitted his fifth offer to the Glazers, has emerged as the frontrunner to take over at Old Trafford, according to The Guardian.

He is thought to now have the edge over previous favourite and rival bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe. But should Jassim and his Nine Two Foundation be successful, there could be a series of major changes within the Red Devils’ hierarchy.

Despite keeping a relatively low profile throughout the negotiation process, Jassim is reportedly ready to wield the axe on three high-profile figures at United.

According to The Express, he would want to appoint people he trusts in important roles at Old Trafford.

The first name who could be struck off United’s books is executive vice-chairman Richard Arnold who took over from Ed Woodward in February 2022.

Although he has helped United build their brand alongside Erik ten Hag, he is a close ally of the Glazers which could lead to his departure.

Few could argue with Jassim’s desire to recruit somebody he knew personally, who could perhaps help generate more money from the Middle East.

Next up is football director John Murtough, who has established himself as a popular figure at Old Trafford since his appointment over two years ago.

Ten Hag has spoken glowingly of Murtough, after he helped complete the signings of Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Antony.

However, he has come under scrutiny for the drawn-out transfer saga involving Mason Mount, in which United appear to be making little ground.

Finally, Darren Fletcher could also be shown the door, who has acted as a useful middle man between fans and the Glazers.

Although with Jassim’s plans to become a more transparent owner, would Fletcher’s services be required in the same way?
