CONFIRM: Man United Finally Close Deal With Rasmus Hojlund As Agreeing £2.6m Per Goal

MANCHESTER UNITED have reached an agreement to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund for £72million.

Erik ten Hag has made no secret of his desire to land a top new goalscorer this summer.

Man Utd have agreed a £72m deal to sign Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund

And a deal to land Hojlund is now close after United struck a £72m transfer fee, with £64m to be paid upfront and a further £8m coming in add-ons.

The Denmark international will pen a bumper five-year contract with the Red Devils after bidding farewell to teammates today.

In the next 24 hours, paperwork will be exchanged between all parties, and Hojlund will visit Carrington Medical Center for a checkup.

And it won’t be long before he’s officially announced as United’s newest high-profile acquisition.

The 20-year-old only transferred from Austrian club Sturm Graz to Atalanta last summer for a fee of £14.5 million.

After making his way into the starting XI, Hojlund made 32 appearances in Serie A and scored nine goals.

In total, he has 27 career goals – meaning United will be paying out £2.6m per strike.

But it’s his impact as a versatile targetman that has caught the eye of Ten Hag.

The Dutchman expected Wout Weghorst, a loan player who joined the team in January but has yet to score a league goal in 17 appearances, to do similarly.

Hojlund will be United’s third significant acquisition of the summer, bringing their total spending to £179 million.

Mason Mount, a midfielder for Chelsea whom Ten Hag has loved since his Ajax days, was the first player he completed a £60 million purchase for.

The tactician also completed a £47 million transfer for Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

Previously coworkers at Ajax, the goalie and Ten Hag, Onana will join friends Lisandro Martinez and Antony in United’s starting lineup.
