Neymar backs Carlo Ancelotti to become the next Brazil boss as the PSG forward claims he will ‘teach us a lot’ – despite the Italian vowing to honour his contract with Real Madrid until 2024

Neymar has given his approval to Carlo Ancelotti becoming the next Brazil manager and believes the veteran coach will teach them a lot.

The Real Madrid boss has been tipped to be the Seleção’s first foreign manager in over 50 years following the resignation of Tite minutes after their World Cup quarter-final defeat to Croatia.

Neymar, who saw his season ended early by an ankle injury, has praised the Italian and given his backing to his future appointment.

‘We will have the opportunity to have a foreign coach’ The 31-year-old told TV Band. ‘Ancelotti has won everything and I am sure he will teach us a lot.’

The PSG star’s comments come soon after intense speculation arose linking Ancelotti to the Brazil job once his contract with Madrid expires at the end of the upcoming season.

In his second spell with the club, Ancelotti has added a La Liga title, Copa del Rey and the Champions League in 2022, which made him the most successful manager in the competition’s history.

Despite a disappointing 2022-23, the 64-year-old will see out the remainder of his deal while the club prepares for a refresh led by his successor.

Ancelotti began his coaching career as an assistant with the Italian national team, before embarking on a trophy-laden tour of European football’s elite clubs.

The transition back to the international scene will signal a new chapter, though the Brazil job offers a genuine opportunity to win the few trophies absent from his collection.

He will also link up with familiar faces from his time in Madrid. The likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Eder Militao have been mainstays in the national team in recent years.

As well as Madrid alumni Casemiro and ex-Everton striker Richarlison, who the Italian managed during a short spell with the Merseyside club.
